Research Summary

My research has been primarily focused toward achieving a better understanding of the specific binding of proteins to DNA.  Such specific binding events play an important role in DNA replication, DNA repair, and gene transcription, but the fundamental process of protein-DNA binding is still not well understood.  No simple code of protein-DNA
recognition has been found, but we can still learn about protein-DNA specificity from analysis of the protein sequences that are known.
